About us

From a classroom to a factory floor.

H&M Suppliers began in 2022, born out of necessity and a willingness to try something new.

Our story

01

How it started

Following Covid, ongoing supplier challenges made it increasingly difficult to source schoolwear reliably. We decided to manufacture some of the garments ourselves — and so our journey began.

Starting with two sewing machines, one experienced machinist and a classroom as our workspace, our first product was a pair of school shorts.

02

Where we are today

Since then, we have grown into a dedicated factory in Ladybrand, moving into our current premises in November 2025.

Today, our team of 14 permanent employees produces a range of schoolwear and custom garments, supported by 22 sewing machines and two embroidery machines. We also offer embroidery and small clothing alterations.

03

What we believe

Along the way, we have learned a new industry, overcome challenges and developed our skills together. Our philosophy remains simple: H&M’s success belongs to the team.

We value practical skills, pride in our work and the opportunity to create sustainable employment in our community.
